Edenred France partners with Betterway to support companies in their transition to sustainable mobility

Edenred France, the leader in digital earmarked payment solutions including Ticket Restaurant, Kadéos and Télétravail Edenred, is partnering with Betterway, the first universal sustainable mobility account. Amid high inflation and a renewed need to save energy, this partnership meets growing expectations among companies for a solution to manage their employees’ mobility assistance  while increasing their purchasing power. By providing Betterway’s offering to its 160,000 clients and 7 million users in France, Edenred now covers all employer subsidies for employee commuting – from France’s sustainable mobility allowance for new modes of green transportation to subsidized public transit passes and fuel.

Since it was founded in 2019, Betterway has worked to make sustainable mobility widely accessible within French companies by allowing them to help fund employees’ commuting costs. With Betterway’s universal corporate mobility pass, employees can pick and choose from a wide range of transportation options. Betterway’s offering has already proven its potential and attracted many large companies such as TF1, Allianz, BPI France, Metro and Axa.

Edenred is already a pioneer in the mobility benefits market – with a dedicated sustainable mobility allowance solution – and a leader in multi-energy fuel cards in France. With the addition of the Betterway solution, Edenred is now further extending its portfolio of corporate mobility services. Thanks to the exclusive partnership with Betterway, Edenred is able to offer its clients a comprehensive range of innovative services on its super App, consolidating all employee commuting benefits into a single solution.

For employees, the alliance means being able to effortlessly adapt how they commute throughout the year depending on their needs, taking advantage of fuel or public transit subsidies, or using the sustainable mobility allowance on eligible green transportation expenses (micromobility, hired bicycles, electric scooters, electric vehicle charging, car-sharing and car-pooling).

The offering also enables companies to set up a mobility account – known as a mobility credit – to replace employees’ company cars.

Ilan Ouanounou, General Manager of Edenred France, said: “We are delighted to partner with Betterway and thereby strengthen and expand our commuting offering. Together, we will provide companies with the most comprehensive and flexible solution on the market for funding their employees’ daily travel and allowing them to use the mode of transportation that best suits their needs.

Denis Saada, CEO and Co-Founder of Betterway, said: “We are thrilled to be contributing our expertise and partnering with Edenred so we can more quickly achieve our mission of making sustainable mobility accessible to all. Through this partnership, our aim is to continue simplifying the management of mobility budgets and foster widespread access to sustainable mobility by providing the most comprehensive offering on the market to Edenred’s 160,000 clients in France.”

Mobility assistance evolving to strengthen the purchasing power of French employees

Purchasing power initiatives, particularly to combat inflation, are on the rise. For 2022 and 2023, for example, the annual exemption threshold for the sustainable mobility allowance has been raised from €500 to €700 (€800 if combined with a public transit pass), including a maximum of €400 for fuel costs. The exemption threshold for employees’ public transit costs has been increased to 75% of the ticket price, compared with 50% previously.

In this context, 80% of employers surveyed were aware of the solution (up from 69% in 2021), and nearly 40% of organizations that have not yet implemented it plan to do so soon.

In addition to contributing positively to a company’s CSR policy (for 69% of business heads surveyed), a mobility offering boosts the employer brand (for 68%) and meets employees’ expectations (for 62%).

An increasing proportion of employees are mindful of their mobility choices and want flexible travel solutions. They are also opting for more environmentally friendly modes of transportation.
