Samsung Pay beta version is now available for meal card users in Sweden

Edenred Sweden partnered with Samsung Pay as soon as it was launched in the country. This partnership enables the 120,000 users of the Ticket Rikskuponger* card to make contactless payments for their lunch with a smartphone.

Edenred is speeding up the shift to digital of its solutions as part of its strategic Fast Forward plan. In 2016, 43% of transactions in Europe were made electronically.

The Group is stepping up its mobile payment initiatives in response to the new usages that have emerged with the digital revolution. After France, Italy, Spain, Taiwan and Finland, Sweden is the sixth country where Edenred is developing this means of payment.

A partnership which makes sense

100% of transactions in Sweden are digital. The service offer from Samsung Pay is perfectly in line with this trend.
It will enable Ticket Rikskuponger holders to make more of their lunch break.

A quick, easy and secure means of payment

Once their card is registered in the Samsung Pay application, users simply have to hold their mobile or their tablet close to the payment terminal and to confirm the transaction with their fingerprint in order to pay for their lunch at all merchants in the network.

The system also uses a unique code to protect the security of every transaction. It uses tokenization to keep the data on the Ticket Rikskuponger cards confidential.

What is tokenization?

At the very heart of mobile payment systems, tokenization consists of replacing sensitive data, such as bank card details, with other randomly generated figures.

These tokens bear no relation to the data they replace and are only valid on one mobile and for a single use. This means that the bank card numbers are never transmitted or stored on the smartphone.
