Social policy
Edenred is proposing simple and flexible means of enabling corporate social responsibility policies to be implemented for its customers.
In this context, the programmes marketed by Edenred within the scope of its “Employee Benefits” scheme represent a major social issue. By helping to increase people’s purchasing power, they make it possible to create jobs and support certain business sectors (particularly in catering and food, jobs in the home and care services). Furthermore, they guarantee a proper and secure use of the funds provided and thus the implementation of public health policies. Finally, they make it possible to transform the underground economy into the formal economy and to respond to employees’ wishes regardless of the size of company, and without any form of discrimination.
The “General public benefits” programme contributes towards the correct allocation of support and benefits to local communities by public authorities and institutions. Edenred creates specific programmes to meet the needs of public authorities and institutions in terms of health, education, integration, community care, leisure and even culture. These programmes promote transparency and monitor the support given to communities while offering them flexible, easy and effective devices. Furthermore, these service vouchers offer users complete freedom of choice within a pre-defined network.
A non-exhaustive list of the services that can be used by our customers (companies, public authorities and states), and which act as vehicles of social progress for employees and citizens:
In the area of the nutrition:
- Meal vouchers (Ticket Restaurant® and Ticket Alimentation®) providing wide distribution of access to food while promoting a balanced diet for employees. When the first restaurant voucher was issued in 1962, it was a real social revolution which made catering for employees more accessible and by offering SMEs an alternative to the canteen/company restaurant. For almost 50 years, Ticket Restaurant® has been giving employees the opportunity to eat outside their company, in a restaurant of their choice. Just as for company restaurants, the tax exemptions from which the employees and employers benefit have encouraged access to food in 35 countries around the world.
By way of illustration, Ticket Restaurant® has enjoyed great success in Brazil, based on the Plan to Feed Workers, set up in 1976 by the Brazilian government, with the aim of ensuring a minimum standard of living for a large part of the population. Today, this plan provides meal vouchers to 60% of the targeted population.
Restaurant vouchers are also very flexible and easy to manage for all involved. A restaurant voucher is a cheaper method than canteens of providing food for employees, in particular for SMEs and SOHOs and more generally within small units of production that are geographically dispersed.
Ticket Alimentation® is another meal voucher developed by Edenred. It increases the users’ buying power in order to ensure good nutrition, not only for the employee him- or herself, but also for the whole family, and it also meets the new needs arising from changing lifestyles, particularly when trying to balance work with family. Employees can also buy food in nearby shops or supermarkets.
With 2 million users and 60,000 associated service providers, Ticket Alimentación® helps achieve 87 million transactions a year in Brazil. In Mexico, around 780,000 people use it in the form of a card, generating a volume of almost 20 million transactions a year and more than one million people use Ticket Alimentación® in paper format.
In the area of care services:
- Ticket CESU® is a payment order that enables employees to access services that will help them on a day-to-day basis at a discounted price: childcare, school support, housework, help for people in need of care, etc. This Ticket provides the company with the assurance that support is distributed evenly, their uses are guaranteed, and for the users, administrative tasks are simplified and they have the freedom to choose the service provider. It allows employees to use care services and thereby promotes the employment of registered workers.
- Ticket Childcare Voucher® in the UK and Ticket Guarderia® in Spain enables employees to pay for their childcare costs, while also benefiting from an employer’s contribution.
In the area of access to leisure activities and culture:
- Ticket Compliments® and Ticket Kadeos® from Edenred improve quality of life and provide VIP access to leisure activities and to shops selling cultural products with an exemption from charges. These products are seen as real social benefits by the employees because they help improve their well-being while also improving their performance.
- Ticket Culture® allows users to access cultural leisure activities such as museums, exhibitions, cultural parks, etc.
In the area of public benefic:
- Ticket Service® helps the management and distribution of emergency aid. It is a tool of reference for social assistance. It enables the user to access food and hygiene products, clothes, accommodation, energy, transport, culture and educational activities and in the area of sport and leisure activities.
